Father Christmas at the Pond Cancelled

Published: 16 Dec 21

In light of the greater weight being placed in recent days by government and their medical advisors on minimising unnecessary social interactions in the run up to Christmas (to avoid further restrictions at that time), Swanland Parish Council has reluctantly decided that the most appropriate approach is to ask Father Christmas not to visit the pond on Monday 20th December. Sadly this means this event is being cancelled for another year - which will disappoint many families in the village and from further afield, as well as those who take part in the event." The Catch Swanland Village Hall

Published: 3 Aug 21

THE CATCH by Nick Darke Nick Darke’s play ‘The Catch’ concerns the fishing community. In Padstow, Cornwall, two fishermen, suffering the effects of the EU quota system, are wondering how to supplement their income and naively decide to use their lobster pots to go in for a little extra-curricular drug smuggling. The dodgy local character with whom they are dealing is playing a double game with them, and also with the daughter of one of the fishermen. Read More...
