The Council pays for Village street lighting, the Christmas evening at the pond and is responsible for the assets of the Village shown below.

The Council purchased the Old School in 1997 for a nominal sum. in 2005 a loan was taken out for refurbishing it into the Village Hall for £475,000 repayable over 25 years.

The Village Hall (registered charity No 1180273) is run by an independent committee and is self financing through room hire and fund raising activities.

Swanland Playing Field
Playing Fields

Swanland Playing Field and the Scout Hut are leased by Swanland Parish Council from East Riding of Yorkshire Council. The Parish Council underleases the Playing Field to the Trustees of Swanland Playing Field Association (registered charity No 700713) and the Scout Hut to Trustees of Ferriby and Swanland Scout Group. The leases expire in 2089. Development costs are met by the above Groups.

The Council is responsible for maintenance of the pond and its surrounds. It is currently looking at ways to improve the water quality.

The council also provides for litter cleaning around the pond area (via a grant to the Village Association).

Swanland Allotments
Village Allotments
Located off Mill Road just beyond the water tower, the allotments have 25 plots.

There is a £40 Registration fee for new tenants and a rental of £20 per year.
